At normal times, the Times Cryptic crossword appearing in The Australian is published 37 days after appearing in The Times.
Exceptions are that this gap is 38 days for the Monday Crossword because of the weekend, and the Tuesday crossword is only delayed by 31 days because of the week delay in the UK for this Saturday prize crossword.
Things also get interesting because of the different policies at Christmas and Easter.
At Easter, The Australian is not published on Good Friday but The Times is published as normal in London. Consequently, the delay in printing the Cryptic Crossword in The Australian for dates after Easter, changes from 37 days to 36 days.
However, sometimes The Australian catches up by printing two crosswords on Easter Saturday.
On Christmas Day, neither newspaper is published but the Australian continues with the same series but some disruption to the delay is evident until, in about 36 days, the "missing" puzzle from Christmas Day changes the relationship again.
I am not sure how things will go when Christmas Day falls on a Sunday.
